Bergen Chrypt

The massive western wall of the The Dying World — catacombs and ice-caked peaks east. Called The Spears. From the cracks of Bergen Chrypt, when the world was but water and dust, SHE first crawled. She spawned many basilisks here, casting them down its cliffs — only HE survived. The dead god of the Dead God's Prophet was slain by SHE within the wretched peaks of Bergen Chrypt.

Misery 2:3 reads: "And from the Spears: a frost. Born from Bergen Chrypt and covering all."

The Fanged Deserter (origin 6) may have been suckled by a wolf in the wild of Bergen Chrypt. The Pale One (origin 3) may have been vomited forth by a foul beast here. The Forlorn Philosopher (origin 5) may have been abandoned in Bergen Chrypt's catacombs. The Heretical Priest (origin 6) may come from a secret Bergen Chrypt church. The Cursed Skinwalker's bear-form (creature shape 4) is "Bear from Bergen Chrypt." The Basilisks Demand occasionally asks for "the gall of a Chrypt-vulture."

Adventure seeds: "A weirdness leaves Bergen Chrypt" (85–86). "At the Bergen Chrypt tree line" (10) one risks one's life.

Regional Fauna (Eat-Prey-Kill, p.12)

The wretched peaks, ice-caked catacombs, and abyss-mouths of Bergen Chrypt host their own bestiary:

  • Tunnel Sneak — fits through cracks you don't.
  • Nephalix Monkeys (d4) — spat back out of the abyss, laughing.
  • Weakwill'd Whisperbird — follows any master, including a lich seeking peace and quiet.
  • Vierwinged Falchon — four wings, brood-eating, despot of the mountain skies.
  • Überwolf (d6+ regular wolves) — born under a blood moon, three times wolf-size.
  • Ragpie — the cloak that smothers you in your sleep.
Gaps / Expansion Notes

The catacombs are referenced over and over but never mapped. Chrypt-vultures, bears, foul beasts that vomit out Pale Ones, secret churches, dead gods slain in the peaks — all named, none detailed. Bergen Chrypt is canon's deepest gap; it should be a whole mountain-cycle module.
