Weakwill'd Whisperbird
will follow any master, provided you kill its current one
HP 2, Morale 6, Beak d4
Special: Looks so utterly pathetic that you will need to pass a DR12 Presence test to bring yourself to fight back. When encountering the bird, roll to meet its accompanying master (d4): 1–2. Roll again on the hunting table.
- A flesh starved berserker (Zukuma, Bare Bones p.60).
- A Lich looking for some god damn peace and quiet (Lich, Bare Bones p.63).
Lore: The Whisperbird will follow any master, provided that you kill its current one. Until then, it will fight with tooth and beak to stop you from doing so. The bird is so wretched and pitying a thing that drawing a knife on it feels like cruelty. The lich it follows is counting on this.
Whether a Whisperbird taken in service for long enough grows into something less pathetic, or whether its pitying state is permanent, is unwritten. The Lich entry on the wiki Lich already cross-references the Whisperbird as "a Lich looking for some god damn peace and quiet."
