Nagel Krat, Alchemist

the patricide selling fake cures while making the disease

Thin, curly hair, red apron, obsessively clean. Cares about one person in the world — and his name rhymes with "Vagel." Killed his father Urvan Krat to inherit a grain mill that could no longer process grain, has no loyalty to his goblins, and begs, pleads, bribes, and cries to avoid harm. Nagel is a (smart) worm, running back to the Derelict Mill at the earliest sign of trouble.

Nagel's Scheme:

  1. Pay Qarg for a steady supply of corpses for the Goblin Grinder.
  2. Make goblins. They infest Galgenbeck, cause townsfolk issues, and inflict as many people as possible with the Goblin Curse.
  3. Create a Goblin Cure (which isn't a real cure but postpones the symptoms). Sell it. Sell a lot of it. Raise the price 5s per day forever.

Stat block: HP 6, Morale 6, No armor, Knife d4. Smoke bomb. DR14 Presence or Nagel gets away.

He carries all his silver in his apron (d10×10s). If chased he can shed it to make Agility tests to catch him DR16. He has the only working key to the Goblin Grinder device (spare key is on Urvan's body in the basement).

Gaps / Expansion Notes

The assassin who actually poisoned Urvan (rather than Nagel himself, who was content to inherit the mill) is unnamed in source. Nagel's alchemy training is implied but not credentialed.
