Sepulchre of the Swamp Witch
The ancient sepulchre of the Swamp Witch and an altar of dead roots covered in lost symbols. Forbidden words chanted at the Dead Root Altar grant any wish — even stopping the Doom — but at appalling cost.
The sepulchre lies in a swamp and is reached past the Strange Serpent Drug Cult of Ueth the Scalehunter, who lairs in its outer chambers. Paths between rooms are invisible unless one's blood carries the Emerald Venom of an Emerald Serpent — the cult's drug-key.
Eleven chambers:
- Sunken Entrance with the gate-guarding Emerald Serpent
- Cult Common Hall with cultists eating grilled gator
- Cult Bedroom with twenty mold-covered mattresses
- Scalehunter's Chamber of Ueth
- Worship Hall with caged sacrifices and a Klopstock ring (200s, or 1000s in Schleswig)
- Snake Pit of a sentient telepathic snake-head gate
- Garden of luminescent flowers and three-eyed violet skulls
- Hidden Ferns where the Croaking Trident hides
- Tomb — 13 obelisks of spiraling snakes around an empty sarcophagus, the Swamp Witch floating above
- Dead Root Altar — the wish-granting altar
- Downward Spiral — a black pit guarded by Srolki & Yaoxl and Srolki & Yaoxl, opening deeper into great caverns and entire cities of three-eyed humanoid toads
Swamp Witch, Ueth, Strange Serpent Drug Cult, Emerald Serpent, Emerald Venom, Dead Root Altar, Croaking Trident, Srolki & Yaoxl, Srolki & Yaoxl, Klopstock, Schleswig, Fathmu IX (whose messenger carries the forbidden words)
The "cities of three-eyed humanoid toads" deep below are canonical and entirely undescribed — major expansion territory. Why Fathmu IX's messenger carried the forbidden words is left to GM (heretical scheme to undo Verhu?). The Swamp Witch's history before her tomb is blank.
