Sigûrd
The strongest man whose throat a Fanged Deserter ever gnawed. His grey hair, long enough to weave, became Old Sigûrd's Sling — and the sling has never failed its owner since.
Nothing else of him survives in canon. Not where he stood. Not what he fought for. Only the hair and the snapping of the teeth around his neck.

Was Sigûrd a king, a champion, a bandit, a hermit-warrior? Strongest man implies legend. The act of throat-gnawing implies the Deserter was small or sleeping or trusted. Whoever Sigûrd's surviving kin are — they would know the sling on sight, and what was done.
