Gorgh

One of two heads borne by HE. Gorgh is Envy. He is the head that turned with his twin and crawled away from SHE down the cliffs of Bergen Chrypt — and he has been rank with envy ever since, because only his twin Verhu knows the damned truth.

He prophesies too. Time and time again his prophecies come true. No one cares. They worship the other head.

What He Does

• He prophesies, and is correct, and is ignored. Source: "Time and time again his prophecies are brought to be." His followers know his predictions are accurate. The wider world prefers Verhu.
• He receives gold. Source: "The piles of gold-gift riches from his faithful teeter and slide, so tall are they." He has his own faithful. They bring metal. The piles grow until they fall over and bury the next pile. He is the only basilisk-head in canon described as having a visible tribute economy — pillars of coin and ornament rising in his chamber.
• He curses his mother. Source p.11: "his eyes locked upon the mountain's peak, he spits out curses upon his evil mother." This is what he does when not prophesying or counting gold. Gorgh hates SHE specifically. The body HE is just the platform.
• He demands gifts. The Bare Bones p.70 adventure seed 69–70 — "HE demands a gift" — applies to the body Gorgh shares with Verhu. Whether the gift is for Gorgh's pile or Verhu's temple is unspecified.

How He Appears in Scenes

Gorgh shares a body with Verhu in the crypts of the Valley of the Unfortunate Undead. A pilgrim approaching the basilisk does not get to pick which head they speak to. They are facing both.

The distinction matters in adventure framing:

• A petitioner praying to Verhu receives prophecy (and may have brought tribute for the temple).
• A petitioner praying to Gorgh receives prophecy (no different in content), but the prophecy is the one Verhu didn't say first, and the tribute goes onto Gorgh's piles instead of into Verhu's clergy.
• Gorgh is the option Bare Bones provides for PCs who want to play the heads against each other.

Relationships as Actor

• Mother: SHE (cursed continuously from the Valley floor; the original abandonment).
• Twin: Verhu (Prophecy — only Verhu is widely heard; Gorgh resents this every minute).
• Half-siblings (other heads): Lusi, Arkh — SHE's heads, his actual mother's mouths.
• Worshippers: "His faithful" — unnamed, unorganized in canon, but wealthy enough to build sliding mountains of gold-gift in his chamber. A Gorgh-cult exists. It is not the Two-Headed Basilisks.
