Frozen Lake

A lake of icy water-lilies on a thin sheet of ice, at the bottom of the sinkhole-depression that hides the Death Ziggurat. The brittle black flowers — the black water-lilies — have strange effects when crushed, affecting all who touch. Next to the lake, dozens of moaning Undead are trapped in the half-frozen mud, still moving, still wanting.

The Flowers' Effects (d6)

Duration: 1 Hour / 1 Week / Permanent

  1. (W) Visions of the Death Realm flicker past at worst of times — bleak and threatening.
  2. (P) All hair on body turns white, skin the colour of a bog mummy.
  3. (H) Steals energy from the realm of Death. Your maximum HP, and damage done to undead, increase by d6.
  4. (P) In half an hour, you turn into a sickly pale, red-eyed ghoul creature. Can only taste human flesh.
  5. (P) You start aging in reverse.
  6. (W) Wounds will not heal, larvae are attracted. Immune to the rot priests' touch. Old people smell.
Gaps / Expansion Notes

What grows the black lilies — and whether Akünh's channeling feeds them or they feed it — is unwritten. The Death Realm "visions" are atmospheric prompts only; a GM running a longer campaign could turn each W/P/H result into a small downstream scenario.
