Read once per day. Roll a die:

  • Even: For the rest of the day, all PCs heal d4 hp after just five minutes' rest.
  • Odd: The reader is plagued by demonic hallucinations. The GM invents d3 things only the reader can see and describes them to the player as if true. The effect ends with sunrise.

The Bible bears Nechrubel's name. Whether Nechrubel wrote it or is merely the subject — its dying god, its accuser, its idol — is not made plain. A Heretical Priest who carries it learns to fear odd numbers.

Gaps / Expansion Notes

Is the Priest who reads the bible actually reading their own future? The hallucinations are mechanically described as invented by the GM — but in canon they might be visions of true things the world has hidden. Connection to the Nameless Scriptures (also of Nechrubel, via Verhu's whispers) is implicit and unspelled. Possibly the Bible is the other book the monk Anuk Schleger failed to transcribe.
