Grubstoppers
any bug large enough to calm a man's hunger
HP 1, Morale −, Exoskeleton −d2 (50%), Bite 1 damage + special
Encountered in swarms of d10.
Special: Some bugs have a bad bite (Toughness DR12). Roll below for the effect (d4): 1–2. Nothing.
- d6 damage.
- Infected.
Lore: A common word for any bug large enough to calm a man's hunger. In the Valley they grow on the corpse-soil, fed by what the mud pits offer, and they are nutritious in the sense that they fill you. Whether they nourish or merely fill is a Valley distinction without much practical difference.

Gaps / Expansion Notes
What "infected" means in Valley terms — the slow-growing undeath the gazetteer describes? — is implied but unstated. A Grubstopper is, mechanically, the cheapest danger in the booklet.
