Cursed Trout

a hollow fish — and a terrible omen

(No combat stats — caught by line, not fought.)

Special: Live among the regular trout of the lake. It is not apparent that you've caught one until you move to gut it and find that there are no guts. A hollow fish. Whether by magic or superstition, the one who guts such a fish cannot sleep for d6 days.

Lore: Seen as a terrible omen by the fishermen of Lake Onda. The trout that come up empty are blamed for the lake's failing trade, for the river-trade gone, for Wästland's slow collapse. Whether the curse causes the failures or merely announces them, no one alive remembers.

Gaps / Expansion Notes

Whether a Cursed Trout's hollow body holds anything — silt, prayers, nothing — is open. Whether eating one would extend or end the sleepless curse is a question for the brave or the very hungry.
